A dominant major league pitcher, Waite Hoyt “The Schoolboy Wonder” was signed to the New York Giants at the age of fifteen. Also known as “The Merry Mortician”, Hoyt worked both as a funeral director and in vaudeville. He has performed with George Burns, Jack Benny, and Jimmy Durante. He died on August 25, 1984, following a heart attack.
