The du Maurier Light cigarette box is carefully displayed on a table in the foreground, next to (but noticeably on top of) a couple of unidentified compact discs, further associating the cigarettes as being the top in leisure and entertainment. The leisurely lifestyle featured here appeals to young people who wish to be perceived as cultured and well-traveled. Strewn around the room are a variety of art books, novels, Native American baskets, coffee cups, and compact discs. The couple’s good taste is accentuated in the text as well. The couple’s relaxation is augmented by their relaxed postures, resort-chic clothing style, and nonchalant manner of holding their cigarettes. The bright colors in the photo emphasize the light aspects of the cigarette and serve as a contrast for the bright red du Maurier box, allowing it to stand out.
