Comments:
In the comic advertisement on the left, a man is thrown out of a poker game when his coughing disrupts play. He is told not to return until he switches to Old Gold cigarettes to relieve his irksome cough. The comic on the right presents it as “a grand and glorious feelin’” when a man presents an Old Gold to his boss, who “smokes an imported brand,” and the boss praises the man for his good taste in cigarettes. The comics, part of a small book, were illustrated by Clare A. Briggs (1875-1930).
