“Junior” has come home from school a tattered mess – he’s been fighting with the other boys again. Mother is distraught, but Father knows how to calm her down. He offers her an Old Gold, and probably goes back to his newspaper once she’s settled down. The ad was illustrated by Dorothy Monet (1919-2010), one of a small handful of female advertisement illustrators of the time.
