Comments:

This ad for Helmar cigarettes shows a larger-than-life box of Helmars supporting a bespectacled doctor who is forcefully pointing at the consumer. He says, “I am a practising physician,” and claims that he has smoked Helmars for years because they are “pure, healthful tobacco enjoyment.” His image, with his pointed index finger and upturned mustache, is derivative of the 1914 British WWI propaganda poster, “Lord Kitchener Wants You,” which was also the inspiration for America’s 1917 equivalent, “Uncle Sam Wants You.” The ad forcefully claims its cigarettes are a healthy option.

Keywords:

Doctor, Healthy, Male, Pure
