Collection: Hi Tech Designs
In a nation taken in by gadgets, it is no wonder that e-cigarette manufacturers are marketing their products as cool and hip “high-tech” devices that are a healthier and safer alternative to “analog” or conventional cigarettes. e-cigs are battery-powered and contain liquid nicotine. As you inhale on the device, the nicotine is drawn into an atomizing chamber, where it is heated and turned into a vapor. This vapor is inhaled just like with a normal cigarette.
Most e-cigs are marketed online and through social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and You Tube. The advertising and promotion materials used to promote e-cigs sounds borrow terms and jargon used in the technology arena. For instance, Vuse, which brands itself as a “Digital Vapor Cigarette” claims to contain a “Vapor Delivery Processor” that uses algorithms in the same way a computer does. According to information on its website, the “VaporDelivery Processor in the power unit, working with the SmartMemory™ microchip” in the cartridge, monitors the power to ensure consistent puffs of the e-cig. The cartridge used in the e-cig also uses a “proprietary encryption technology.” Gamucci claims to be the only brand of e-cig to use the “Patented VaporCore” technology that ensures a long battery life and consistent flavor. MarkTen claims to employ a sophisticated “Four-Draw” technology to give vapers a good puff. White Cloud advertises a “ChargeBolt” charger that can revive a battery cell and Halo advertises a “Thermoflow” technology that produces a slightly heated vapor. Blu e-cigs designed a “Smart Pack” that vibrates when a fellow Blu vaper is within 50 meters.
Not only are many e-cigs built to look like a Smartphone, the paraphernalia required to operate them is very similar to those needed for Smartphones. For instance, the batteries in e-cigs can be charged using a USB charger or a portable charger case. Just as the battery charging progress is displayed in the front of your phone, many e-cigs have a smart LED button that can display the battery charge in the e-cig. Some e-cig companies such as JSB are in the process of creating a WiFi e-cig. In addition to this, much like the abundance of colorful Smartphone sleeves, carrying cases and covers for e-cigs are available in a number of colorful designs and colors.
There are also a number of e-cig apps including e-cig usage calculators and do-it-yourself juice calculators. The DYI juice calculators enable consumers to become their own vapologist and mix their own unique flavors and create their own recipes. In addition to this, there are also several apps that aggregate e-cig coupons and promote the best deal of the day.
There is growing concern that the marketing of e-cigs as a high-tech gadget available in a wide variety of fruity flavors and easily available for purchase online makes it particularly appealing to youth. After all, teenagers are defined by the gadgets they carry and are often early adopters of new technologies.
