Comments:

This advertisement for Egyptienne Luxury cigarettes takes the “luxury” aspect literally, spelling the word out in huge, capital letters, and picturing a couple taking a peaceful afternoon sail in a bay. Their white clothes recall the white casing of the cigarettes and indicate that they are part of the leisure class, never affording the opportunity to get dirty. The woman’s fan further exemplifies her social status, and is mirrored by the man’s cigarette. The cigarette is thus seen as a social indicator, and a means of expressing a life of luxury.

Keywords:

Female, Male, romance, young adult
