Born April 18, 1992, Sonja Henie Was Norwegian actress and champion Olympic figure skater. A six-time European Champion, ten-time world champion, and three-time Olympic champion, she won the most Olympic and World titles of any ladies figure skater. At age eleven she placed in the top eight of the 1924 winter Olympics. The first figure skater to where a short skirt while skating, she also adopted dance choreography to the sport, securing its position as a legitimate winter Olympic sport. A personal acquaintance of Hitler, controversy arose when she greeted him with a Nazi salute during an exhibition in Berlin prior to the 1936 Berlin Olympics. She died on October 12, 1969 of Leukemia, which tobacco is a known risk factor of.
