Comments:

The bright colors of the image along with Joe Camel’s rolled up sleeves, backwards baseball cap, and dark sunglasses worn indoors attract young males. Joe Camel’s ability to play pool with both hands while smoking portrays cigarettes as easy to use. The angle of his body and the cue, coupled with the large orange ball to which he takes aim, distracts from the surgeon’s general warning on the left. Additionally, Joe Camel’s snout area, closely resembling a male’s enlarged reproductive organs, provide Joe Camel with machismo that counters any association between light cigarettes and women.
