Program rustle. Who is Tibbett? Then comes a voice of molten gold, clear, pulsing, tender, stirring. The Diamond Horseshoe cheers like bleachers. Encores. Bravos. Flowers. Speeches.

Comments:

Old Gold features American opera star Lawrence Tibbett (1896-1960) in this advertisement in which the brand compares its quick rise in popularity to Tibbett’s. Tibbett found success in the Metropolitan Opera and later in Hollywood operatic films. Though he does not provide a direct testimonial in this ad, he also appeared on Lucky Strike’s radio show, Your Hit Parade, in the 1940s. He suffered from crippling arthritis and alcoholism in his later years and ultimately passed away when he fell and hit his head on a table.

Cough, CoughThroat, Health, Throat
