Apple honey helps guard O.Gs from cigarette dryness.

Comments:

A low-ranking U.S. Army officer (the lack of insignia on his uniform sleeve indicates he is a Private, the lowest ranking officer in the Army) walks away with a beautiful woman on his arm. A much higher-ranking officer (his insignia indicates he is a Master Sergeant) is upset that with all of his clout, he couldn’t snag the girl. The Private offers the beefy Master Sergeant an Old Gold with a smirk in a gesture that says “tough luck.” At the bottom of the ad, tiny writing reads “Keep on buying war bonds,” providing extra patriotism to the ad. Additionally, the copy text references the WWII cigarette shortage, during which it was difficult to find certain brands on a regular basis.
