Comments:

A low-ranking U.S. naval officer drops his suitcase on a high-ranking officer – the three stripes and star on his sleeve indicate that he is either a lieutenant commander, a commander, or a captain. A sticky situation for all, the tension is eased when the higher-ranking officer’s female companion offers him an Old Gold to relieve the irritation. “Keep on buying war bonds,” the text says in tiny writing at the bottom of the page, providing extra patriotism to the ad. Additionally, the copy text references the WWII cigarette shortage, during which it was difficult to find certain brands on a regular basis.
