The same 20% to 50% extra tobacco through which Fleetwood's smoke is filtered, not only reduces the nicotine in the smoke, but also reduces in the smoke those tars that stain fingers and teeth!
This ad for Fleetwood cigarettes touts “less nicotine,” “less tar stain,” and “less throat irritants.” Like many tobacco ads, Fleetwood advertises its cigarette as modern, and thus healthier: it claims to use “a modern moisture-retaining agent which does not produce acrolein.” Modern technology and scientific advancements, usually fake ones, are cited often in cigarette advertisements to fool consumers into believing a cigarette is more advanced, healthier, and safer than “old” cigarettes.
