This advertisement touts swing musician Harry James (1916-1983) as “another radio 1st for Chesterfield” in reference to James’ new position as head bandleader of Chesterfield’s radio show, Chesterfield Time, in 1942. Though James was able to perform up until nine days before his death, he passed away from lymphatic cancer in 1983.
