British soprano opera singer Florence Easton (1882-1955) claims that Lucky Strike cigarettes “are never irritating.” After touring America for many years, she made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1917 and continued to sing with the Met for 12 seasons. This ad and the others in the Metropolitan Opera series of Lucky Strike ads lead consumers to believe that opera singers are puffing on cigarettes between acts while maintaining perfect voices. Easton gave her last public performance in 1939 and passed away from heart failure in 1955.
