Comments:

This ad features a picture of a couple smoking Winstons happily together. The woman leaning over her husband’s shoulder as he sits comfortably, still in his suit after a long day’s work. The Winston filtered cigarette is advertised here as having a “unique” filter which “works so effectively.” This is one of a series of ads printed upon the brand’s introduction in 1954. R.J. Reynolds seeks to attract new customers by utilizing such a chic, professional couple smoking Winstons, and by marketing to those who want to be seen as “real smokers.” Additionally, the King Size is advertised as having “extra filtering action,” never mind the extra tobacco and nicotine!
