Quote:

Enjoy today's most pleasing cigarette with the assurance: No other leading cigarette is less irritating, or easier on the throat, or contains less nicotine than Old Gold. This conclusion was established on evidence by the U.S. Government.

Comments:

The couple pictured sits outside of The Cloister, a famous luxury hotel in Sea Island, Georgia. The woman wears an expensive dress designed by Herbert Sondheim (1895-1966), one of the leading fashion designers at the time. She looks into the eyes of her husband, as one of his hands holds hers, and she holds up her cigarette to his lighter. Old Gold cigarettes seek to attract women by associating themselves with this relaxed, luxurious, and romantic vacation feeling.
