Comments:

This advertisement features three photographs which illustrate the frequency with which a man smokes cigarettes in a day. The ad seeks to normalize smoking throughout the day and during any event. “Smoke a lot on big days?” the ad asks as it pictures a happy couple getting married, the groom accepting a cigarette from an outstretched hand. In a few seconds, the couple would be kissing at the alter, and his breath would have to be fresh. The next scene shows the wife lighting her husband’s cigarette with a match in the comfort of their own home, happily married. The third image shows himself pulling a Spuds’ cigarette from its package for himself. The ad capitalizes on the “Menthol Cooled” aspect of this cigarette, indicating that it will keep your mouth “fresh as April” and ready for a kiss.
