Comments:

This advertisement depicts Diane Von Furstenberg (1946-present), noted fashion designer, in one of her famous wrap ensembles, holding a large planner and smoking a Salem cigarette. The ad capitalizes on women’s interest in fashion and trends, as well as their desire to become independent and successful. Diane Von Furstenberg is a wonderful example of an entrepreneurial woman, and her success fits well with the side note, “It’s a fancy lunch or a last-minute meeting or a chat with the Chairman of the Board.” The advertisement is aimed at the woman who wants “more” out of life, comparing this desire to the extra long Salem, with “more” length.
