Ads targeting doctors urge physicians to prescribe cigarettes for health benefits and claim that smoking actually betters hygiene, while portraying physicians as medical warriors. One ad even thanks doctors for portraying Philip Morris honestly. Other advertisements invite physicians to visit the exhibits and the special smoking lounge at the American Medical Association’s annual convention, sponsored by tobacco companies.
