In this comic-style advertisement for Camels, Life magazine cover girl, Audrey Erickson, nicknamed the ”Prettiest Athlete on Long Island,” provides a testimonial for Camels. The men in the ad say it’s “impossible” that she’s an athlete, since she is “too cute,” but then she is shown winning at baseball, basketball, and bowling. The ad also explains that she “excels in field hockey, skating, track and field, swimming, and horseshoe pitching!” The men are able to impress Erickson by offering her a Camel cigarette. As a women’s role model in athletics, Erickson’s testimony was targeting young women.
