Our fighting men in the trenches and with the fleet need and crave tobacco. Help us send it to them.

Comments:

This advertisement attempts to raise funds to send troops tobacco by imploring readers to donate and mail in a coupon. The image created by Clarence F. Underwood, a cover artist for McClure’s Magazine, depicts a wounded soldier being treated by having a nurse light his tobacco pipe for him. The nurse’s actions suggest that smoking helps one to recover from wounds, and that tobacco is beneficial to one’s health from a medical standpoint.
