Over a period of years, certain basic advances have been made in the selection and treatment of cigarette tobaccos for Lucky Strike cigarettes.
This advertisement targets women. A glamorous woman examines her complexion in a mirror held up by a man. The round shape of the mirror, comprised of two concentric circles, mimics the Lucky Strike bulls’ eye and connects Lucky Strikes to both beauty and male attention. The catchphrase, “Each Puff Less Acid” is misleading. It sounds as if with each puff you take, the less acid you will experience. However, what is meant is that Lucky Strikes are less acidic than other leading cigarettes. This, however, is misleading itself, the bar graph at the bottom compares the acidity of Lucky Strikes with Brands A-D without listing the names of these brands.
