This comic advertisement describes it as a “grand and glorious feelin’” when you forget your Old Golds at home only to find that your friend has switched to Old Golds, so you can safely bum a cigarette off of her without risking a cough. “Yes, I belong to the coughless sisterhood,” one of the women announces proudly. The comic was illustrated by Clare A. Briggs (1875-1930).
