Comments:

This ad compares the popularity of crooner Rudy Vallée (1901-1986) to that of Old Golds, both “fast successes.” Vallée signed with a record label and began recording on the radio in 1928 and became extremely popular immediately, attracting an enormous fan-base of screaming teen girls wherever he went. Though Vallée himself doesn’t provide any quote endorsing the product, his signature megaphone is pointed toward the copy text as if he is saying the words himself.
