This advertisement features a celebrity testimonial from famous actress Betty Garrett (1919-2011), who was chosen by Robt. Burns Cigarillos to speak “for the ladies everywhere” when she claims that she loves “to see a man smoke a Cigarillo.” Her husband, famous actor Larry Parks (1914-1975), is pictured with her on set, reading his script and smoking a Cigarillo. Beneath the image is an advertisement for their upcoming film, “Stakeout,” in which both were expected to co-star. Unfortunately, the movie was either never produced or never released, as it coincided with a huge scandal which ended Parks’ career and nearly put a stop to Garrett’s as well; In 1951, Larry Parks was a victim of the Hollywood blacklist of the ‘40s and ‘50s, in which actors and other members of the entertainment industry were denied jobs due to suspected associations with the American Communist Party. Their 1952 movie was never released. Most likely. Robert Burns Cigarillos regretted signing the two A-listers on for this advertisement.
