Benson & Hedges light cigarettes are shown here to be luxurious and romantic. The airy romance of this scene is enhanced by the woman’s billowing gown and the window’s sheer drapes, the light pink tones of the image, and the curves of the staircase which form a heart around the couple. The man lights the woman’s cigarette, and as she draws in on the cigarette, she draws him closer to her as well. The word “Lights” is accentuated throughout the image, from the glimmering skyline through the windows to the lit cigarette which glows against the woman’s face. Affluence is hinted at through the elegant clothing, the palatial foyer, and most importantly, the upward slope of the staircase and the couple’s positioning on the steps. They are quite literally “moving on up” with the help of Benson & Hedges Lights.
