Comments:

This couple, hunting in the Sahara, is strong and fearless. The woman has tamed a wild cheetah (whose whiskers are made of actual cigarettes), and wears a bandolier holding Parliaments rather than bullets, indicating that her ammunition is Parliament cigarettes. The man behind her holds the gun, but she holds all the power, as well as the box of Parliaments. Her trendy hat and blue beauty mark make her decidedly feminine, and her cheetah companion wears a blue amulet which feminizes her as well. Each of the ads in this campaign features a woman with a large, blue, decorative beauty mark on her cheek. The slogan, “only the flavor touches your lips!” markets Parliaments as a cigarette with a unique recessed filter, which also speaks to the slogan, “You’re so smart to smoke Parliaments,” as the filter was advertised as making Parliaments a safer, more conscientious cigarette.
