Quote:

When we requested a portrait of an ardent Parliament fan, we really had something quite different in mind. But it did turn to be a rather fascinating way to suggest that many smart smokers want everyone to know there's something special about Parliamentsdeeply recessed away from your lips

Comments:

This pun, like the others in the campaign, evokes humor and creativity: “When we requested a portrait of an ardent Parliament fan, we really had something quite different in mind,” the ad insists, as the portrait reveals a woman holding a glamorous blue hand fan, decorated with Parliament cigarettes. This ad is luxurious and feminine. The woman rests seductively against a small gilded Corinthian column, her golden gloves large and reflective of the Parliament cigarette box. A man stands behind her, holding out a box of Parliaments obediently. Each of the ads in this campaign features a woman with a large, blue, decorative beauty mark on her cheek. The slogan, “only the flavor touches your lips!” markets Parliaments as a cigarette with a unique recessed filter, which also speaks to the slogan, “You’re so smart to smoke Parliaments,” as the filter was advertised as making Parliaments a safer, more conscientious cigarette.
