Comments:

Dressed in an outlandish green, white, gold, and red costume for a masquerade, this woman stands with her weight on one hip, leaning against a beam while casually burning a Lucky Strike cigarette. The colors of her costume as well as the colors of the background reflect the shades of the Lucky Strike pack, and demonstrate the ways in which a woman might make the pack match her outfit for a costume party; Lucky Strike was concerned that the green color of their packs would push away female clients, because green clashed with the fashionable colors at the time. By depicting this trendy woman in its ad, Lucky Strike associates itself with “the height of good taste.” Additionally, the woman herself resembles a cigarette in her white robe and tall, cylindrical white hat.
