Really Filters the Smoke

Comments:

This box of DeNicotea filters features an otolaryngologist on the packaging. Every time a consumer would open the box for a new filter, the image of the otolaryngologist would be reassuring. The ad from 1954 is nothing but text, and addresses contemporary news stories and articles which covered “the ill effects which may result from cigarette smoking.” The DeNicotea filter piggy backs off of these health concerns, hoping to scare smokers into using their filters, rather than quitting. The ad recommends consumers “secure the advice of your physician,” but with an otolaryngologist on the filter package, isn’t that just as good?
