This advertisement allows readers to know exactly where they can purchase Chesterfields – from the local druggist. Pharmacists are presented in a similar light as doctors, as someone “you can count on.” Today, most leading drug store chains prominently sell cigarettes. Though the cigarettes are placed behind the register, due to FTC mandate, they are often displayed in a visually striking manner, and the placement behind the register actually helps companies sell cigarettes with point-of-sale advertising and last minute impulse buys
